This Jieyang pork noodle shop might be the small eatery I most want to keep secret on Jade Street.
Why keep it secret? Simple: great taste, reasonable prices, and the owner is from Chaoshan. I’ve always had a good impression of Chaoshan people, not just because of the movie ‘A Letter to Mom’ showing their loyalty and affection, but also because they have a down-to-earth, traditional, and serious attitude toward work. But that’s a digression—back to the noodles.
As usual, I ordered a dry-tossed noodles with a bowl of pork soup. When I arrived, they were almost closing, and I barely got the last serving. The dry-tossed noodles were firm and fragrant, with chewy noodles; the pork soup was the refreshing sweetness typical of Chaoshan snacks, not heavy on oil or seasoning, very comforting.
How was the taste? Just look at my empty bowl—I didn’t even want to waste the soup.
But what really makes me want to recommend this place isn’t just the taste, but the warmth of the owner. They have a note posted at the door, roughly meaning: if you’re in trouble or can’t afford a meal, you can still come in for a free one. Honestly, after eating at so many places in Foshan, this is the first time I’ve seen such a thing.
This instantly made me feel that this shop isn’t just about selling noodles and soup; it has a touch of humanity. Such shops are rare nowadays, so I’m happy to help promote them.
If you’re looking for food near Jade Street, give this Jieyang pork noodle shop a try. The taste won’t disappoint, and the prices are fair. Good things should eventually be shared.
