That day, after finishing some errands with a friend, it was already a bit late, so we stopped by this Dongbei restaurant to grab a bite. To be honest, this place has been open in Pingzhou for over a decade—it’s an old establishment, and I myself drop by for a meal every now and then.
Personally, my favorites are their dumplings, especially the chive pockets. I basically order them every time I come, and I often get them for takeout too—they’re reliable and satisfying.
This time, I wanted to try something different, so I ordered some dishes like spare ribs, suancai stew with pork, and a bowl of pearl soup. Overall, it wasn’t particularly amazing—it was more like home-style cooking, the kind you’d eat but wouldn’t make a special trip for.
On the other hand, their staple dishes were as good as ever—they’re the real stars of the show.
Overall, the characteristics of this Dongbei cuisine are very clear: generous portions, filling, and great value for money. If you want something hearty to fill your stomach, this place is quite suitable.
