I got back to Jade Street quite late today, well past meal times. I had noticed this new Jieyang handmade noodle shop before, and since I was passing by, I decided to give it a try. After all, seeing Chaoshan cuisine always piques my interest.
The shop is newly renovated and looks clean and comfortable. They specialize in handmade dry noodles and pork soup. I ordered a medium portion for 25 yuan. They offer small, medium, and large sizes; for a normal appetite, medium is just right.
The noodles are quite distinctive—chewy and springy, not soft and mushy. The more you chew, the more flavorful they become. The accompanying pork soup is very Chaoshan-style—clear broth but sweet and savory, with the natural aroma of the ingredients.
The soup is packed with ingredients: meat rolls, pork tenderloin, fresh shrimp, clams, etc. It’s the typical Chaoshan style: light, sweet, not heavy, but increasingly comforting. This flavor suits me perfectly.
25 yuan is not expensive in Jade Street, especially with noodles and soup included. The portion and quality are decent. Overall, it’s a good experience and a recommendable little shop. I’ll come back when I want something light and savory.
