I actually eat at this Chenghai Lion Head Goose fast-food restaurant quite often. I came again today, so I thought I’d write a review.
This place has been around for a while—I think at least five years, maybe seven or eight. The owner is from Chaoshan, and the food is quite authentic. In particular, their braised goose is my favorite in Pingzhou.
The goose meat is well-braised, flavorful but not too salty, and the tenderness is just right—not dry. The prices are reasonable; a meal typically costs between 18 and 25 yuan depending on the portion, which is great value around here.
Also, the owner is generous—they offer free soup, vegetables, and their own stir-fried preserved radish. These little details add a lot. Besides the braised goose, their Chaoshan-style fried chicken wings are also delicious, and I often order them.
Overall, this is the kind of small shop perfect for daily meals—consistent taste, fair prices. If you’re craving Chaoshan braised goose, give it a try.
