Review
Huazi Chicken Claypot is quite a representative old shop in Foshan. To be honest, first-timers might find the environment average—not a fancy restaurant, even a bit rustic. But its strength lies in its enduring popularity over the years, especially on weekends when it’s packed inside and out, often requiring a wait during mealtime.
I’ve been here before; it’s the kind of place I crave every now and then. Their chicken claypot has a unique flavor—the chicken is fresh, firm but not dry, likely due to good ingredients. The seasoning is also pleasant, not overly heavy on salt or spice, but rather fragrant, with the broth and chicken flavors blending well.
My favorite part is adding a pack of greens at the end; they soak up the broth and become delicious, completing the dish. Overall, this place relies on taste and reputation rather than ambiance. If out-of-town friends want to try something representative and down-to-earth in Foshan, I usually recommend Huazi Chicken Claypot.
The environment is average, but the taste is outstanding. There’s a reason this old shop has survived and remains so popular.
