Xingji Lamb Rib Porridge「兴记羊排粥」

Review

Today I happened to pass by around mealtime, so I decided to check out Xingji Lamb Rib Porridge. I’d actually been here once before, but the owner had sold out of lamb ribs by around 7 PM, so I had to leave disappointed. This time I was lucky—they still had lamb ribs.

Eating alone, I didn’t know what to order, so I asked the owner for a recommendation. He said first-timers must try the signature lamb ribs. I ordered a portion, about a jin (500g), for 70 yuan, plus a plate of garlic bean sprouts and a bowl of lamb rib porridge. The total came to 86 yuan, but the owner charged me only 80—a very honest guy.

As soon as the food arrived, I knew I’d come to the right place. The lamb ribs were stewed until incredibly tender, falling off the bone with a gentle bite, with no gamey smell at all—just rich meaty flavor. The garlic bean sprouts were perfectly cooked, with strong garlic aroma, and underneath were some chives—simple but incredibly appetizing. The lamb rib porridge, though served in a small bowl, was packed with ingredients like dried meat floss, offering a rich texture and a comforting taste that paired perfectly with the ribs.

For 80 yuan, I ate very well and felt satisfied. I’d say the value is pretty good.

The only thing to note is that this place has limited seating, so you often have to wait during peak hours. Also, the owner prepares a limited amount each day, and once it’s gone, it’s gone. If you want lamb ribs, I suggest arriving before 7 PM, or you might miss out.

An old shop worth a special trip for lamb ribs. Recommended.
