Guangdong Yuanxuan Taoist Temple「广东圆玄道观」

Review

This year is the Year of the Horse, which is also my zodiac birth year, so I came here specifically to pay respects to the Grand Duke of Jupiter (Tai Sui) of my birth year, praying for a peaceful and smooth year ahead. This Yuanxuan Taoist Temple is one of the largest Taoist temples in the Guangdong region, with a very complete overall layout and worship system. It houses the sixty Grand Generals of the Birth Year Tai Sui, as well as the majestic Sanqing Hall, Guanyin Hall, and Wenchang Hall. The halls are well-organized, and the incense is thriving.

The environment is quiet and solemn, allowing one to calm down and gradually settle upon entering. The overall facilities and services are relatively complete, with clear guidance, so even first-time visitors won’t feel confused. The only minor drawback is that the location is a bit far, but precisely because of this, there is an extra sense of tranquility away from the hustle and bustle. If everything goes well this year, I will come back to fulfill my vow. As an important part of traditional Chinese culture, this ritualistic sense of Taoism sometimes provides a sense of peace and spiritual sustenance.
