Today, I brought two uncles from Shanghai to this old restaurant in Panyu—it’s my third time here. It was just around noon, so I ordered a set of traditional Cantonese dim sum, about eight items in total.
Overall, the dishes were average—some highlights, but also obvious shortcomings. The spring rolls and stir-fried rice noodles were pleasant surprises, with good heat control and texture—they were the highlights of the meal.
However, the soup dumplings were disappointing; they tasted quite ordinary, almost like pre-made products. The shrimp dumplings also lacked surprise, missing the freshness and bounciness typical of Cantonese dim sum.
How should I put it? As an old establishment, consistency is an advantage, but if they could add more innovation or refine the details, the experience would be even better.
